The data is stored in a single table with the following fields:
season, gender, placement, team_name, region, spirit_score
Callahan Award dates:
- 1996 – First year of the Callahan Award, administered by Charles Kerr. Each team gets 1 ballot with 3 votes for 3 points, 2 points, and 1 point. (source)
- 1996-02-25 – 1st male and female nominees: Sarah Brown Jones (Colorado) and Broc Adams (North Carolina-Wilmington)
- 1998 – Individual college players can cast ballots instead of teams (source).
- 1998 – Ballots re-weighted – 3 votes for 4 points, 3 points, and 2 points. (source))
- 2001 – Regional Coordinators can make nominations. Players are allowed to vote for a candidate from their own team. (source)
- 2001 (or 2000) – Ballots re-weighted – 3 votes for 5 points, 4 points, and 2 points. (source)
- 2002 – First Callahan highlight video for Matt ‘Rook’ Wilken (Michigan) by Nick Kohn on May 5, 2002
- 2008 – First(?) Women’s YouTube Callahan highlight video for Courtney Kiesow (Wisconsin). (M: Beau’s not originally on YT).
- 2007 – Extended Finalists (un-audited Top 10) were started for CBS Sports
- 2013 – Skyd Magazine takes over administering the Callahan Award.
- 2014 – Skyd Magazine/Ultimate Central takes over administering the Callahan Award. Ballots tallied using the Schulze method.
- 2018 – USA Ultimate takes over administration of the award. Ballots re-weighted to 2001 method – 3 votes for 5 points, 4 points, and 2 points.
Donovan Award dates:
- 2017 – First year of the Donovan Award (D-III players only), organized by Ultiworld/Ultimate Central, Each player gets a ballot of 3 ranked votes tallied using the Schulze method. There are no RC nominations.
- 2019 – Ballot changed to 5 ranked votes tallied using the Borda count method.
