History: 1977 – 1978 Season

The first iteration of Pitt Ultimate that we know of dates back to 1978. They called themselves the Fastbacks. Randy Strausser organized the team by putting fliers on telephone poles to rally folks together. The team was recognized as an official club and was funded for travel and meal expenses. They played some big tournaments in Charleston, WV, Washington, DC and at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA.
